BIOGRAPHY

Don't panic, my dear. Here is the short version. If you are here, then you know me already. I am Lestat de Lioncourt, otherwise known as The Vampire Lestat. I was born to a noble family of Auvergne in 1760, the youngest of seven children, and the third and last to survive most of the way. You probably know much of what came next, but I’ll fill you in. I wasn’t much of anything, aside from the time I killed eight wolves terrorising my village when I was twenty years old, until I ran away with my beloved Nicolas, and swiftly became a popular actor in Paris. In a little theatre called Renaud’s, I was “the blond-haired rogue who steals the hearts of the ladies in the third and fourth acts”. It was there that I attracted the attention of an old vampire, Magnus, who came to see me night after night until he swept me away. From that encounter I emerged a vampire, furnished by Magnus’ own riches after his fiery and unceremonious death. Soon after that, my mother came to Paris, and seeing as she was so ill, I made her my very first fledgling. It was going well, until we were hunted down by the Children of Darkness, an archaic old cult living in a condemned cemetery. They kidnapped Nicolas, and, after some negotiation, I rescued him and made him one of us, too, being on the verge of death. It went badly, in the end, and I left him in charge of Renaud’s, which I had acquired, with the dregs of the cult, which had disbanded.I set off after that. I had had enough of Paris, and I wanted to know more about our kind. I found more. I found my good friend Marius, an ancient vampire of Rome, who taught me much that I was instructed never to tell anyone. But by now, even you might know what all that is! And if you do, you know why I had to leave in a hurry. Anyone who doesn’t can buy my book, where I do the whole episode much more justice.I left the Old World for the New, then. My old father was dying somewhere in Louisiana, and blind, and it fell to me to take care of him. I provided for him in Louisiana as best as I could, living in certain flats in New Orleans and making my money by either robbing my victims or beating them at the card tables. There are many advantages to being a vampire, as you will see. It was in New Orleans that I saw Louis for the very first time. Now, you must know Louis, if you know me, because everyone these days came to know me first through my Louis. He is the titular vampire of that book Interview with the Vampire, which was published in 1976. It isn’t bad. In it, he tells the whole story - what he considers the whole story - of our lives together. I was in love with Louis from the first moment I saw him. He was almost as beautiful then as he is now, and a drunk. I wanted him for his beauty, and for his plantation, Pointe du Lac, which sat on the water and bore a fruitful indigo crop. Don’t think too badly of me for it: we needed the money.
And I needed Louis.
He puts me in a rather bad light on the eve of his making. I cannot do much to explain myself, but remember that I had virtually no Maker of my own, and all my other fledglings were of a different nature. I hardly knew what I was doing! And Louis did not take to it all as readily as he should have. In fact, I don’t believe he’s ever completely taken to being a vampire. You might ask him about it. But we found a way to be happy together, even if he is reluctant to tell that. In hindsight, I believe he loved me, too. It was because of Louis that we had Claudia, our perfect and deadly demon child. You will forgive me if I do not bring myself to say too much about her. I will tell you this: I loved her, and I mourned her in spite of everything.Claudia could put up with a lot less than Louis. I was, according to her, a tyrant and a jailer, and she meant to free both herself and Louis from me when she poisoned me and slit my throat. You will know, from Louis, the nasty details of what followed then. My triumphant return, and the business of the burning townhouse. I only resurfaced at the end of the nineteenth century, looking a fright, and you can read about that from Louis, though he did not know that it was a dirty trick by Armand, and that it was his fault I went back across the Atlantic little more than a bag of bones.I only came to properly in 1985, with my electrifying rock band The Vampire Lestat. We were a hit, and so was my book of the same name. Not even Louis could pull that one off. But it was short lived, we only played one magnificent concert, and that was interrupted. Would you believe me if I said we were attacked, and that I was later chosen by, the Queen of the Damned herself? As for the rest of it – my foray into godhood, and the business with the body thief, and the Devil himself – you will have to find out about all that, my dear, for yourself.

RULES

- I am a graduate student and over the age of 21, and WILL NOT INTERACT if you are under the age of 18- For timezone references I am Australian, and live in AEDT/GMT+11- My activity is low at the moment due to my demanding study/work schedule, but I will get back to everything eventually! If you’re worried I’ve forgotten about you or you’re unsure, just send me a message!- For the above reason, this blog is mutuals-only- I have read the books (clearly!), though I do prefer to operate within pre-Prince Lestat canon. However it’s not a hard and fast rule at all and if you’d like to explore post-PL then I’m game!- I know that Lestat’s character gets a little ~controversial down through the later books (although sometimes later can mean anything as recent as TVL), and I’ll be honest and say that I base most of my portrayal off of the Lestat we see in IWTV- I don’t do exclusives, save for my one and only beloved Louis @fanatiquee- I will roleplay with OCs and do crossovers- I will do multi-ship; muse is bisexual/romantic, if there’s chemistry then I’m into it!- I will aim to match length in replies. I tend towards longer replies but am completely happy to keep things shorter and quicker, if you would prefer one or the other in particular, let me know! I don’t bite, and I’m always keen to talk to people- Feel free to message me OOC with any questions, if you want to chat about muses or plot something out.- Mutuals feel free to ask for my Discord if you’d rather use that to chat!

THE SHORT VERSION.

NAME Lestat de Lioncourt.ALT. NAMES Lestat de Valois; Lelio; Wolfkiller.BIRTH 7 November, 1760.PLACE OF BIRTH Auvergne.DEATH October 1781.PLACE OF DEATH Paris.AGE 21 (at time of death).FACECLAIM Essentially Jedidiah Goodacre as Dorian Gray, with a few tweaks.HEIGHT 6'0" / 183 cm.EYES Grey-blue, iridescent.HAIR Golden blond, quite pale in the light, thick, curly, not quite shoulder length.SEXUALITY Bisexual.BIOGRAPHY The third and last son of an impoverished Marquis with little but a dilapidated chateau to his name, Lestat de Lioncourt was raised in Auvergne in the last decades of the eighteenth century. Removed from what little education he was afforded at the age of twelve, Lestat spent the majority of his mortal life hunting game for his family. In his twentieth year, Lestat was tasked with killing a pack of eight wolves which had terrorised his village. The townspeople rewarded him with a cloak fashioned of their pelts; this was presented to him by Nicolas de Lenfent, with whom Lestat became close friends (and more). The two young men escaped Auvergne to Paris, where Lestat became an actor at a boulevard theatre, with Nicolas as an accompanying musician. The renegade vampire Magnus discovered Lestat at the theatre, and kidnapped him from his bedroom soon after. Lestat was not only turned that night, but left the entirety of Magnus’ extensive estate, after Magnus cast himself into the fire before Lestat’s eyes. The money and treasure allowed Lestat to buy his theatre, while he distanced himself from his mortal friends, including Nicolas, to whom he sent copious sums. His distance did not last long; Lestat eventually revealed himself not only to Nicolas, but to the theatre. When Lestat’s mother, Gabrielle, arrived in Paris, ill with consumption, Lestat saved her life by turning her. Their adventures in Paris further inflamed a cult, led by Armand, who kidnapped and tortured Nicolas. Rescuing Nicolas, Lestat both decried and destroyed the cult, and turned Nicolas to save him from death. The transformation, however, maddened Nicolas, who retreated into silence until Lestat retrieved his violin. Enchanted by his playing, the remnants of the cult, to whom Lestat has left his theatre, reappeared, and with Nicolas established the Théâtre des Vampires.Lestat left Paris in search of Armand’s maker, Marius de Romanus, and was discovered by him in Cairo, where he was shown Those Who Must Be Kept. On Marius’ instruction, Lestat left the Old World for the New, to take care of his father in New Orleans. In New Orleans, he fell in love with, and turned, Louis de Pointe du Lac, living first on his plantation, and later, once Louis had burned this, in a townhouse on the Rue Royale. Here, Louis and Lestat, and eventually their vampire child, Claudia, lived until Claudia attempted to kill Lestat after sixty years. When Lestat returned to the townhouse, Louis set it alive in self-defence, leaving Lestat apparently dead.At the end of the nineteenth century, Lestat resurfaced in Paris, in his old theatre, still controlled by Armand, in order to stand trial against Claudia for his attempted murder. The theatre vampires killed her, attempting also to kill Louis in the process. Armand, taking Lestat from the theatre under the pretence of healing his injuries, pushed him instead from the tower which had once belonged to Magnus, leaving him severely wounded.Eventually making his way back to the New World, Lestat only truly resurfaced in 1985, as the lead singer of rock band The Vampire Lestat, formed with mortal punks and short-lived. Their first concert was interrupted by the vampire Akasha, who soon kidnapped Lestat from his home to serve as consort and co-ruler in her new order. Having grown swiftly disillusioned with her vision, Lestat accompanied Akasha to Sonoma, where she was killed by Mekare.Post-Akasha, Lestat made his way into the modern world, befriending David Talbot, the head of the Talamasca, and beginning to explore all that the twentieth century had to offer. As for that, and what came later - it wouldn't do to give everything away at once.
